Our Founder
Joelle Chong is a 17-year-old social impact leader and high school senior at Philadelphia Classical School, passionate about expanding access to children’s education and eye health awareness worldwide. Through her youth run nonprofit, Eye Heroes Global, she leads a movement that empowers children to learn, and thrive by bridging literacy gaps while protecting their eyes from the sun’s invisible damage.
Her organization donates books she wrote, as well as sunglasses, eyeglasses, and creative activity materials centered around eye care and health education for children. Eye Heroes Global reaches communities across North America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America, using hands-on learning, and culturally tailored materials to help children understand that protecting their vision also protects their education and opportunity.
Alongside her research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and civic fellowships with organizations such as Civics Unplugged and No Patient Left Behind, Joelle continues to inspire youth to unite compassion, education, and innovation in service of a brighter, more equitable world.
